My significant other likes the way I look now.
Your significant other will not leave you if you lost weight. If they truly care about you, they will be concerned with your health and not your outward appearance. You can grow old and healthy together or be superficial and sick together. The choice is yours.
I am only a few pounds overweight.
Good. Then it should not take long for you to get to a normal weight. A few pounds overweight means you will die a few years earlier than you should.
My uncle was obese and lived until he was 100 years old.
He was very lucky. He beat the odds. Is that a gamble you're willing to take?
My uncle was normal weight and had a heart attack.
That is unfortunate, but losing weight will not make you invulnerable. You can still get sick. However, losing weight will significantly decrease your chances of getting sick.
I could die tomorrow.
Yes, you could die tomorrow and you would have been depriving yourself the calories and food you enjoy eating. But, what if you don't die? What if you live? At your current weight you could still live until you were 90 years old. Your last 30 years being spent in a hospital bed or nursing home with debilitative diseases. You should be more worried about that.
I don't eat too much.
If you are overweight or obese, you are eating too much. Try accurately counting your calories for two weeks. If you do not lose weight, decrease your daily calories by 100. If you don't lose weight after two weeks decrease your calories by another 100. Continue doing this until you lose weight. However, never eat fewer than 1200 calories a day.
It is really easy to sit down and make excuses for why you have not lost the weight you want to lose. It would be harder but more productive to stop making excuses and start strategizing solutions to help you drop the pounds and keep them off.
